06 Mar Super-fast 3D printers with light
3D printing typically prints objects layer by layer, and for large objects the process takes hours.
A new printer, named “the replicator” can fabricate objects in one shot using light and might revolutionise manufacturing technology. The printer scans the object from multiple angles, and then projects the objet into a tube of synthetic resin that solidifies when exposed to certain intensities of light. The new printer has some current limitations producing only small objets and requires a special synthetic resin.
